When riding a bike or other wheeled device

  • When riding in a roadway, remember that motor vehicle traffic rules apply.
  • Slow to a walking speed (or dismount!) when you are crossing at crosswalk, an entrance or driveway.
  • Plan your route with awareness of our primary bike paths.
  • Be mindful of areas with high pedestrian foot traffic and avoid those routes when possible.
  • Keep your bikes and wheeled devices safe by locking them to a rack when they are not in use, and keeping walkways and ramps clear.
  • Just like a vehicle, bikes and wheeled devices require maintenance. Keeping them in good repair, checking tires, spokes, brakes, pedals and chains will help keep you and fellow commuters safe.
